In this bonus episode of the Struggling Entrepreneur, we deliver the first of a 3-part series. We recently had the opportunity to attend several presentations at the Austin Social Media Club. The theme centered around hints, tips and recommendations on how to record and shoot SOCIAL VIDEO.

With the rising interest and drive to understand how to leverage social media for your small business, the entrepreneur may be inclined to use video in the marketing mix for promoting the business. And thus, the following 3 individuals shared their time to deliver recommendations based on their experiences in social media–especially in the creation of video content.

The 3 presenters were:

Tom Stagg is the manager of Interactive Media at the American Cancer Society and the presenter for this audio episode). The later episodes will have also the presentations from Storme Wood and Giovanni Gallucci.

We hope that you enjoy these 3 bonus episodes, as we continue to explore the theme of leveraging social media for your own business.

In this episode of The Struggling Entrepreneur, we return to the IT industry and showcase the skilled IT or technical professional who wants to become a consultant within the industry and become a successful entrepreneur.

However, how does someone who has great and valuable technical skills become a successful entrepreneur in the arena of IT Consultant or Technical Consultant?

Listen to Tom Myer, the author of the book From Geek to Peak, describe his experiences, obstacles, challenges, mistakes and success stories in getting to the end-game of successful entrepreneur.

From Geek to Peek - the book

Tom is an author of multiple books and has many years in the IT industry with all sorts of engagements, skills, and clients.

He has charted out a path in his book for the IT Specialist–a path that gives a roadmap and process for launching a business and then avoiding the pitfalls in which many IT specialists fall. Also, he is now suggesting multiple, concurrent and automated revenue streams for these aspiring small business owners.

Yes, you must avoid the “analysis paralysis“–but you must also be cautious of just “jumping in” because you want to be nimble and fast-moving whenever an attractive opportunity presents itself.

Tom Myer, web site and book

In this episode, you will see why it is much more than just money that is so important when an IT Specialist makes the “leap of faith” to start his own business.

In this bonus episode of The Struggling Entrepreneur, we return for a detailed discussion with noted author, Leesa Barnes, to describe an event that can provide a series of tools for entrepreneurs and help them leverage social media techniques and resources, as well as jump-start their way into using Social Media successfully in their business.

Yes, we did interview Leesa back in August of 2008 to find out about her entrepreneurial success as a noted author, speaker, podcaster and small business owner in the world of New Media. Her book is called Podcasting for Profit: A Proven 7-Step Plan to Help Individuals and Businesses Generate Income Through Audio and Video Podcasting.

Now, Leesa is the founder of Marketing Fit, as well as the chair and hostess and coordinator of an event called the Social Media Telesummit, which will take place from January 21st to January 30, 2009.

Leesa Barnes and the Social Media Telesummit

This virtual and online event will herald a variety of over 25 speakers who are pundits within their industry, as well as subject-matter-experts, luminaries and authority figures in the world of Social Media — but not from a theoretical perspective, but from the aspect of training entrepreneurs how to leverage Social Media successfully in their business.

In this podcast episode interview, you will find out the value to the entrepreneur for participating in this 9-day long event–not just the value of the content and the value of not having to travel or pay enormous sums of money for conference fees, but also the value of having access to the speakers before, during and after the event.  As you will hear, some of these authority figures charge thousands of dollars for this type of communication and collaboration. There is also great value in the three levels of entry to the Telesummit–that is, 3 fee levels to help the small business owner with 3 levels of budget–and quite reasonable, I would suggest.

Also, there is a discount for this event for listeners to this podcast–a discount that will send needed money to a worthy and charitable cause. Find out more in the episode.

By the way, I myself (Fred Castaneda) will be a speaker at the event on Friday, 23 January 2009, where we will discuss how to set up additional revenue streams from information products by using premium content and subscription services.

Thus, if you want to really learn what Social Media is (and is not), and then receive training on how to leverage Social Media to help make your business more profitable, then this Social Media Telesummit is for you.
